Blunt nippers don't cut a thick nail cleanly — they crush and tear it. That means more hand pressure for the practitioner, a ragged edge that can catch, and a less comfortable appointment for the patient. Plenty of clinics replace pairs that only needed an edge.
Each pair is cleaned, then both cutting edges are reground at their original bevel so the jaws close evenly along their full length, right to the tips. The joint is checked for side play, the spring for tension, and every pair is test-cut before it is oiled and posted back.
