Two flat faces, one shallow hollow.
An A5 blade is two flat steel faces, cutter and comb, that shear hair where the teeth cross. It goes blunt when those faces lose their flatness and the shallow hollow that keeps them touching along one line. That is why sandpaper, honing stones and drill-mounted discs never fix a clipper blade.
Both parts are reground dead flat on a calibrated wet-grind machine, the hollow and edge re-set, and the blade inspected and tested before it is packed. A steel A5 blade takes 30 to 50 sharpens over its working life. Turnaround is 7 to 11 business days.
