Skip-tooth blade sharpening, and wide blades too.
Skip-tooth blades have alternating long and short teeth that open up matted and heavy coats; full-tooth finishing blades leave the smooth result after them. Both, and the wider-bodied blades used on big dogs, are reground flat at the factory angle with the tooth pattern kept, then tested before they go back.

Skip-tooth blades take the hardest work in the salon.
A skip-tooth blade goes in first on a matted or neglected coat, so it meets the dirt, sand and tangles the other blades never see. The long teeth wear first. Once they round over, the blade drags through a mat instead of cutting under it, which is slow for the groomer and uncomfortable for the dog.
Cutter and comb are reground dead flat on a calibrated wet-grind machine, keeping the alternating tooth pattern exactly as it left the factory, the hollow and edge are re-set, and the blade is tested before it is packed. Finishing and wide blades get the same treatment. Turnaround is 7 to 11 business days.
